Crewe v Sheff Utd badges 1981-82 Season

This lovely set (in five different colours) is part of a wider set being produced by a Sheffield United fan commemorating what many Blades fans see as their most enjoyable season ever (1981/82) when they came down to Division 4. Made out of old enamel and slightly larger than most badges I see today these are a very nice addition to the collection.

Logo badges

Three basic logo badges that are slight variations on the ones already featured on here....

'The Alex' Badge

Another badge recently produced by the club which I bought from the club shop on my most recent visit. I like this one - both the unique shape and the use of 'The Alex' which is the nickname I have always used in general chat. That said it would be nice to see a Railwaymen badge too!

CAFC balls badge

This is a recently released official badge I bought from the club shop on my last trip to Gresty Road. Quite nice and the use of the balls and the CAFC makes it different from any of the other badges I have seen the club produce before.

New Logo Badge - Red

Here is a badge I just picked up - a red shield with the 'new' logo. The lion looks wimpier than ever and looks like its standing on one leg! Still another nice addition to the collection.

Spurs Record Victory badge

Two lovely badges "celebrating" Tottenham Hotspurs' record 13-2 victory from 3rd Feb 1960 in the FA Cup replay against Crewe. It still stands as Crewe's record defeat. Made by AKP badges as a limited edition set.

Crewe v Manchester United Match Badges

These are the only badges (that I know of) that were produced for Crewe's Carling Cup matches against Man Utd in 2004 and 2006. Both nice neat badges with both team's logo's.

Crewe v Palace match badges

These badges were made in 3 different colours (with a limited run of 25 for each) for the 2005/06 season match at Gresty Road vs Crystal Palace. I don't know if any were made for the return fixture at Selhurst Park but I'll keep looking!
Update: Cheers to Andrew for confirming to me that none were made for the return fixture at Selhurst Park

Shield badges

I have the red one of these but am still looking for the white one. Cheers to the Railwayman for the photo. A pretty basic pair of badges. I don't think whoever designed them put much thought into it! Not sure whether they are official (ie made by the club) or unofficial ones.

Blue and White split badge

Just to finish off the set (I think) of these badges, here is the blue and white version to go with the other three red/white versions already featured. Is there a blue and white with a blue header I wonder?

Red & White Spilt Logo (white header)

Here is the alternate version of the badge with the red header shown two posts ago!

There's only one Alexandra

Thanks to Mike Lazenby for sending me this one! A button badge containing a phrase often used at Gresty Road (I think I even had it on a scarf once..)
Here is the background info on the badge's origin in Mike's own words....
..my first two Alex games were as a matchday sponsors guest, and I got it at one of those two
games. So it's either from 1989 (January game v Leyton Orient...Wayne Goodison scored!) or a year later v Birmingham. From what I remember the idea of being a corporate guest back then was a bit different to what it is now...!
A nice badge to add to the collection! Cheers Mike!

Red & White Spilt Logo (red header)

There have been several versions of this pin made in various colours.... this one is the red and white split with a read header at the top. Other versions I have seen include all red, red & white with a white header, and a blue & white split.

Leicester match badges

Today is the last game of the season and Crewe are playing at home to champions Leicester City. A button badge has been made to mark the occasion. I also show the button badge that was made for the fixture at Leicester earlier in the season.

Millennium Badge

A pretty rare badge I found a while ago made back in 1999/2000 to celebrate Crewe going into the new millenium. At the time we were still enjoying the high-life in the Championship (or whatever it was called back then!)

Liverpool v Crewe match badges 2008

These two badges are the only ones I have come accross so far that were made for the 23rd Sep 2008 Carling Cup 3rd round game at Anfield. It finished 2-1 to Liverpool. They are nice, well made badges. I am reliably informed that another two badges were also made for this game so I'll be keeping on the lookout for those!

More Leeds v Crewe badges

Leeds seem to be the only team in this league who can justify match day badges. These two were made for the game at Elland Road earlier in the 2008-09 season. These are very nice badges and raise the total of number of Leeds v Crewe badges from this season up to four.

Early logo pin

This badge is one of the oldest in my collection. It has one of the old Crewe logos and is officially listed as Crewe badge 033 in the AFBC directory. A great looking badge.

Wolves pre-season tour 2006

Cheers to FBB on the badge collectors forum for this one... http://www.websitetoolbox.com/mb/theexecutivesolution?forum=81603

Only a small piece of Crewe in this one but we are on it so it becomes worthy of mention!

Its a badge produced for Wolves' pre-season games in 2006 of which of course we were one.

Old logo with blue

I found this scan here
http://s661.photobucket.com/albums/uu334/BadgesCollection/?action=view&current=England.jpg which was a Spanish guy trying to sell his entire collection in bulk. Sadly he wouldn't sell individual badges. I've never seen this pin before - the old logo but with the circle over the letters in blue rather than the usual red. Judging by the rest of the pins in the collection, this is probably one from the 60s or 70s. Anyone shed any further light on it?

2008 match badges vs Leeds

These are the 2008 Crewe v Leeds badges from the same producer as the badge a few posts back for the recent match. There was one badge made for each of the meetings in the 2007/08 season and then another made for our game at Elland Road earlier this season on 6th Sept 2008. Great quality badges and still available online too from the original seller.

Silver logo badge

This one is a pretty classy pin which is unique because of its lack of colouring.

It was bought from the club shop as part of a set with a key-ring of the same design.

Basic old logo badges

More of a summary post really but this is all my badges with the basic 'railway wheel' logo together in one group. As you can see there are a variety of sizes, colours and positioning of the ball and letters.

CAFC badge

Another badge from the collection of Andy Scoffin. This CAFC badge was presumably made for Crewe (and not for Charlton!)

Thursday, March 26, 2009

Crewe v Hartlepool Match Badge

This one has just appeared on ebay and is another of those plastic insert badges. Made for Crewe's home match against Hartlepool in April 2009. A different style to those cheap looking insert badges previouly mentioned in the blog. Not one I'm going to be adding to my collection but an interesting addition to the site anyway!

Promotion Badge 1997

This badge was made to commemorate CAFCs first ever fromotion into the second tier of English football when we won the play-off final in 1997 at the old Wembley. Its made in a similar style to the badge made when promotion was achieved again in 2003 (although with the old logo). Thanks again to The Railwayman Andy Scoffin for the picture.

Green and Blue logo badges

Here are a couple of rare badges that I don't yet have in my collection. A variation on the regular round pin you will find elsewhere in red and white, these are in blue and green and must have been made because of Crewe having the blue and green away shirt in the 1995/96 season.

Thanks to Andy Scoffin for the picture and for the other badge pictures he sent me from his large CAFC badge collection that I'll be putting up soon.

Crewe v Leeds Badge - March 21st 2009

Hot off the press..... I just bought the match badge for this weekends upcoming match against Leeds. I got it from http://www.badges.esmartdesign.com/08-09.html They do badges for all Leeds games and they made similar badges for our game at Elland Road earlier this season and for the 2 games last season. They are really nice badges too.

Southampton v Crewe 2005/06 Match Badge

This one has to be the most bizzarre Crewe badge I have come accross so far. It appears to have come from Hong Kong and why anyone in Hong Kong is making badges for an uninspiring fixture between Southampton and Crewe is beyond me!! It has the old Crewe logo and a generic set of footballers dressed in the respective colours of So'ton and Crewe. A great addition to the collection!
