Football League Review c.1968

Interesting piece from a late 60s edition of the Football League Review featuring the red Supporters Association badge.  Also a nice narrative on the blazer badge.

All Red Miller Ball Badge

This image of a potential 2nd Miller Ball badge was found on a Russian Badge Collection website.  I was only ever aware of the one red & white Miller ball badge - the oldest and most expensive Crewe badge I had seen...  so to see a picture of this one was a bit of a surprise!  The photo does not conclusively prove whether this is old or a more modern reproduction.  Any ideas?

2012 Playoff Winners

The official playoff winners badge was available from the CAFC club shop at the start of the 2012/13 season.  Its a great enamel badge with raised lettering celebrating a great day in the clubs history.

2011/12 Play off semi finals badge set

This great set in four colours was produced for the play off semi finals and features the logos of the four clubs involved.  Crewe progressed through to the Wembley final at the expense of southend.

2012 logo badge

This is a badge officially produced by the club at the start of the 2012/13 season.  Its the normal CAFC logo but unlike previously produced badges the logo and the writing are raised from the rest of the badge.

2012/13 Capital Cup Button badges

A couple of small button badges produced for Crewe's two games in the league cup from the 2012/13 season.  The games ended 5-0 to Crewe in Rd 1 vs Hartlepool but then a 2-0 reverse at West Ham in Rd 2.  The badges were produced by Pete's badge shop.

2000/01 Kit Badge

Kit badge from the 2000/01 season.  Its a nice badge but doesn't bear that much similarity to the actual shirt!  An example is the LC Charles logo being in upper case when it is lower case on the actual shirt.  Am assuming it was an official badge issued by the club.

3 years of Bradford Badges

I have featured all three of these on individual posts but as will now have a break from these due to Crewe getting promotion I thought I would put up a post with all three years together of the Bradford Away match badges.  These are possibly some of the hardest Crewe badges to acquire in recent years due to them not being on individual sale and most going straight into the hands of Bradford collectors (of which there are many).

1999/2000 Kit Badge

Kit Badge from the 1999/2000 season.  One of my favourite shirts, the badge features both the Reebok logo and the sponsors from that season (LC Charles VW Dealer).

Crewe Alexandra North America Supporters Club Badge

After living out here in the USA since 2004, I figured it was about time I got a badge made for our small supporters club over here in North America.  Its an enamel badge in four colour variations featuring the club badge and the flags of the US & Canada.  There were only 25 of each variation made.

2005/06 Crewe v Hull Badge Set

I first posted a long time ago about Hull badges from the 2005/06 season.  They were difficult to track down at first but I eventually got in touch with the guy putting them out and was able to secure a full set of four covering both games. It appears that this set was limited to 75 of each design as they are all stamped on the back with an individual number out of 75.

Crewe Button Badge

This is a fun little button badge done by someone with a simple badge making machine.  One for the kids!

AFC Wimbledon v Crewe 2011/12 badge

This great badge was produced for the AFC Wimbledon v Crewe game on 15th October 2011.  The badge was part of the series produced and sold officially by Terrys Badges for each of AFC Wimbledon's home games in their League 2 campaign.  The badge features the club logos and also the statement that Wimbledon are unbeaten in 78 league games....  a record that Crewe broke that day with a 3-1 away win.

I love CAFC

A recent ebay find was this CAFC insert badge in the I love New York style.  About an inch in diameter, the insert is of the epoxy type so is sticky to the touch.

Crewe v Brentford 1997 Playoff Badge

I have had a new set of badges made to commemorate what still remains as one of the greatest days in Crewe's history - the 1-0 victory at Wembley over Brentford in the 1997 playoff final.  Its a unique original design and features the two club logos, the score, match details and the football league logo.  Its a limited edition of 100 badges (25 in each of the 4 colours).  Hope you like them!  Available from me at £2.50 (plus p&p) or £10.00 (plus p&p) for a set of 4.

1994-95 Division Two Playoff badges

This playoff pin set to commemorate the 94-95 D2 playoffs was made as part of a wider set in 2010.  According to the maker (a guy called Paul Booth) the plan was to do badges for all playoff years for all leagues but they seem to have stopped after only a selected amount of years/leagues were produced.  This is one of only 2 of Crewe's playoff runs that made it (the other is featured in an earlier post).  One improvement since the first Crewe badge in this set appeared is that the logo is now the correct one for the period rather that the new design that came out in the late 90s.  As you can see, there were 50 of each badge produced.

Wembley badge 3

This one is an unofficial badge that was available from a seller outside Wembley Stadium on the day (thanks to Dave S for finding it for me!).  Nice to look at but obviously it is of the less desirable insert format rather than good quality enamel.  However, still a nice addition to the collection.

Orange button badge

This big button badge is about 3" in diameter and is far more orange than the scan suggests.  No idea where it originates from or whether it was an official production (I suspect not).  Judging by the age and style I'm thinking 70s or early 80s.

Hull on Tour 2005/06 badges

A strange set of badges (in five colour varieties) to apparently celebrate the away trips of Hull during the 05/06 season.  Featured on these is a really small Crewe logo alongside a few other clubs.

Crewe v Wolves July 2011

Three more fantastic pre-season badges for the match against Wolves in July 2011.  Two badges for the match itself (one each each of the team colours, red & gold) and then one covering the whole of Wolves pre-season including a nice red crewe logo in the top corner.

Wembley Badge 2

These two "unofficial" playoff final badges (one red, one white) are probably the nicest of all those produced (at least that I have seen so far).  Uniquely the crewe logo simply says "crewe"...  presumably for either space or copywrite reasons....

Cradle to the Grave....

The four badges in this set were the last of this style of Crewe badge that were produced (I think).  The quality was so poor (badly positioned stickers on a metal backplate) that I was not unhappy to see the end of the sets!

Wembley badge 1

Thanks to Dave S for sending me over some images straight after the game.  Hopefully I'll get my hands on the real things soon enough!  This is the official match badge available at wembley but it seems to have been in fairly short supply.  Fairly simple and apparently plastic rather than enamel.

Wembley!

Looking forward to any badges available from Crewe's playoff trip to Wembley this week! Of course any that are available will find their way onto the blog!

Crewe Alexandra FC Supporters Assn - Red

This is one of the variants of the old Crewe Alex Supporters Association badges.  This one is the design with the Assn abrieviation with red at the top and bottom.  The maker (which can be found on the back of the badge) is W Reeves of Birmingham.

Bradford v Crewe 2011/12 Match Badge

Top quality match badge to represent the Bradford v Crewe league match (28th December 2011) once again from Bradford, this time it has been produced in two colours - gold and silver.  The production run was 100 (80 gold and 20 silver).  The badge features the match details (not so good for Crewe this year!) and the club logos.

Oxford v Crewe 2011/12 Match Badge

Along with Wimbledon and Bradford, Oxford are one of the few clubs in league two doing match badges.  Again produced by on eof the supporters groups, this was only available at the ground on the match day.  A simple plain shirt design this year as opposed to the official club logos that were present on last years badge.

Snapshot of my CAFC collection - Feb 2012

I still have a few left to put into the display but this is a pretty good reflection of what I have to date...

CAFC England Badge

This CAFC badge in the colours of the England Flag was a great find and a great design.  As with all CAFC badges it may have been made with Charlton in mind but I am happy to find a home for it in my Crewe collection.

12th Man badge...

These two badges, once again of the cheap plastic insert variety, came out at a time when there was a different design in this unofficial series coming out almost weekly... and then they were gone.  I will put up all the designs at some point but we can start with these.  It must be noted that it has been a long time since the Gresty Road end could be considered a "12th man"!
