FA Cup 1st Round 2009 - York City v Crewe Alex

A button badge has been made for the FA Cup 1st round game at York on 7th Nov 2009.

Interesting that they chose to use the old Crewe logo.

Miller Ball Badge

No sooner do I put up a post about this Miller Ball Badge and one appears on ebay.... Its great to finally see what it looks like in colour! And while it would have been nice to win the auction (it sold for crazy money!) at least I can now add it to the blog properly...
.. the seller detailed it as a "1930's brooch pin badge made by H.W.Miller".
If anyone has one for sale for less than £180 then get in touch!!!

Colourful logo pins

This set of six old logo badges with reversible colours has partially been covered before on the blog but now I have the full picture (cheers Andrew S). These if you note have a silver background. We think these were produced by old supporters association and its thought that they were produced in batches of 200.

Crewe v Liverpool friendly - year unknown!

Another gem from Andrew S. This Crewe v Liverpool friendly badge was bought by Andrew at Anfield from a badge seller when we played there in the Carling Cup last year. There is no date on the badge but he thinks its from the pre-season game in 2007.

06/07 Crewe v Liverpool pre-season friendly badges

Thanks again to Andrew S. for sending me pictures of these match badges from the pre-season game at Gresty Rd vs Liverpool on the 22nd July 2006. We assume there is a fourth badge with a white top and white bottom to complete the set.

More 09/10 Match Badges

Some more of the insert badges from this season.... this time Grimsby (a), Darlo (a) and Hereford (h)

Wolves v Crewe 05/06 match badges

Following on from this blog post....

... it looks like there are more Wolves v Crewe badges from 05/06 than I originally thought. Cheers to Andrew for sending me the pictures and the info. The top two in the picture I already knew about but I had no knowledge of the other two that also feature the date of the game. If its anything like the Liverpool v Crewe badges I have in a similar design then there could be as many as four variations of these rather than just the two shown.

Collection update

Just wanted to post an updated picture of my collection. If there are any you have that are not on here then I'd love to feature them on the site (if I have not done so already!) . Even better if you have one for sale too!

Very old Ball badge

This one is a picture from the AFBC directory of the oldest one of the all. Listed as Crewe badge 001, I have never ever seen one. Does anyone have it or any more info on it? I'd love a proper picture (and of course to have the badge myself too!). Its a type people call Miller Ball badges but I don't know if its an official one of those.

Liverpool v Crewe match badges 2008 (post #2)

When I did this post http://crewepins.blogspot.com/2009/04/liverpool-v-crewe-match-badges-2008.html a while back I thought I was only missing a couple of these Liverpool match badges. Turns out I was actually missing 3! I have them all now though. There were four colour variations of this design plus one version (I think) of the badge on the other post. Does anyone know of any more that were made for the game?

Old logo badge

While we are on a roll with non-enamel badges.... here is another one that came up on ebay recently. I didn't buy it (although someone did) although I was really intrigued to know what it was made of and where it had originated from? Anyone shed any light on this one?

Guinness badge

Not sure what to make of this button badge.... quite frankly it seems a bit bizarre! Why Guinness in particular? Who knows!

2009/10 Season Badges

Another new season and more of these plastic insert match badges are appearing. Looks like a slightly different size and style to last season. Again, not ones I'll be adding to my collection but I'll keep a record of them by putting them up on the site when I see them.

Liverpool Road to the FA Cup 1992

This badge was put out as part of a larger Liverpool collection celebrating all their FA Cup wins over the years. The badge for their 1992 win contains the Crewe logo as they won (4-0?) at Gresty Road in front of the TV cameras in the 3rd Round.

Crewe cap badge

This is a fun and unique badge. It has the club logo on a red and white cap. I think its an official club produced badge as I have not seen similar badges featuring other clubs but I could be wrong. This is a fairly rare one too - I can't remember seeing it come up on ebay at all.

Yellow and Blue Logo Badge

This is the yellow and blue version from the mid 90s of the logo badge. This was also made for different seasons in red/white and green/blue. A pretty rare Crewe badge.

Crewe Alex Flag Badge

Here is a brand new Crewe badge that I have had made due to the lack of Crewe flag badges out there. It looks good and I'm really happy with it.

The design is based on the red merchant flag that I used to take for years to CAFC away games and England games home and away (it can be seen in action here http://www.365englandfans.com/gallery/hough_holland1.jpg )

If you would like to buy one, the cost is £2.50 (inc P&P) for the first badge and just £1.50 for each additional badge in the same order. This is pretty much at cost. If I sell these then I can get some more designs made up! Paypal to houghmartin2@yahoo.com or drop me an email at the same address to pay another way or if you have any questions.

Crewe v Sheff Utd badges 1981-82 Season

This lovely set (in five different colours) is part of a wider set being produced by a Sheffield United fan commemorating what many Blades fans see as their most enjoyable season ever (1981/82) when they came down to Division 4. Made out of old enamel and slightly larger than most badges I see today these are a very nice addition to the collection.

Logo badges

Three basic logo badges that are slight variations on the ones already featured on here....

'The Alex' Badge

Another badge recently produced by the club which I bought from the club shop on my most recent visit. I like this one - both the unique shape and the use of 'The Alex' which is the nickname I have always used in general chat. That said it would be nice to see a Railwaymen badge too!

CAFC balls badge

This is a recently released official badge I bought from the club shop on my last trip to Gresty Road. Quite nice and the use of the balls and the CAFC makes it different from any of the other badges I have seen the club produce before.

New Logo Badge - Red

Here is a badge I just picked up - a red shield with the 'new' logo. The lion looks wimpier than ever and looks like its standing on one leg! Still another nice addition to the collection.

Spurs Record Victory badge

Two lovely badges "celebrating" Tottenham Hotspurs' record 13-2 victory from 3rd Feb 1960 in the FA Cup replay against Crewe. It still stands as Crewe's record defeat. Made by AKP badges as a limited edition set.

Crewe v Manchester United Match Badges

These are the only badges (that I know of) that were produced for Crewe's Carling Cup matches against Man Utd in 2004 and 2006. Both nice neat badges with both team's logo's.

Crewe v Palace match badges

These badges were made in 3 different colours (with a limited run of 25 for each) for the 2005/06 season match at Gresty Road vs Crystal Palace. I don't know if any were made for the return fixture at Selhurst Park but I'll keep looking!
Update: Cheers to Andrew for confirming to me that none were made for the return fixture at Selhurst Park

Shield badges

I have the red one of these but am still looking for the white one. Cheers to the Railwayman for the photo. A pretty basic pair of badges. I don't think whoever designed them put much thought into it! Not sure whether they are official (ie made by the club) or unofficial ones.

Blue and White split badge

Just to finish off the set (I think) of these badges, here is the blue and white version to go with the other three red/white versions already featured. Is there a blue and white with a blue header I wonder?

Red & White Spilt Logo (white header)

Here is the alternate version of the badge with the red header shown two posts ago!

There's only one Alexandra

Thanks to Mike Lazenby for sending me this one! A button badge containing a phrase often used at Gresty Road (I think I even had it on a scarf once..)
Here is the background info on the badge's origin in Mike's own words....
..my first two Alex games were as a matchday sponsors guest, and I got it at one of those two
games. So it's either from 1989 (January game v Leyton Orient...Wayne Goodison scored!) or a year later v Birmingham. From what I remember the idea of being a corporate guest back then was a bit different to what it is now...!
A nice badge to add to the collection! Cheers Mike!

Red & White Spilt Logo (red header)

There have been several versions of this pin made in various colours.... this one is the red and white split with a read header at the top. Other versions I have seen include all red, red & white with a white header, and a blue & white split.
